Thank you for your kind words of support in the comments section of my latest blog entry. I appreciate the fact that people even come by here at all, much less take the time and effort to write such thoughtful sentiments, I can only express my gratitude by saying thanks. So thanks.
In terms of the coughing, it is still annoying and fairly persistent but this morning I had the daughter of the mother of all sneezing episodes and once it passed, I had Lhito jam the suction machine down my throat and hoover up the excess phlegm that risen to the surface following the fast and furious flurry of sneezes. The end result: I am feeling a little bit better.
Quick announcement: Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts, this week’s Thursday Afternoon Movie Club meeting is cancelled. We will return to the theater on Thursday, January 13, 2011.
Poll Question of the Day: Which kind of person are you?
Scans of the Day: Here are a couple of photos from my very own toddlerhood back in 1969.
This is such a cute picture, so much like Emma. Two peas in a Pod.
Emma would never try to get out of the cribaand also she would be scared and not smiling and miscievous like You Blue Eyes!
I see that (in the first picture) you seem to be holding up your pant legs…..showing off those blue booties… 🙂
I protest the poll — I read the book THEN see the movie
Glad you’re feeling better!!
🙂
Escape that crib! Allegedly I did something similar, but up, over and out. The family dog kept me from continuing on down the stairs into the wider world, leaving my sleeping twin safely behind.
Cute baby, anyway! Looks remarkably like some photos we’ve seen here!
Oh my, Emma looks so much like you! Your face was obviously meant to be smiling because that impish grin is just adorable.
I’m glad the sneezing made the junk in your lungs easier to hoover out, which made you feel better. Maybe keep a little fresh ground pepper close by in case you need to instigate some more sneezes? 🙂

Tough one one the movie vs the book. I usually read the book a couple years before there is a movie, then I see the movie. But, if I haven’t read the book, I see the movie and then don’t read the book.
I’ve got a wee suggestion for helping that cold/cough: it involves a special heating pad that is awesome. A company called Thermophore makes a line of heating pads that deliver moist heat…without any water and without being wet. Don’t know how it works, but the heating pad really penetrates moist heat in a way that helps things like chests, backs, thigh muscles and neck/shoulders really feel good. I’ve got nothing to do with the company.. I’ve just got one of these and I love it. You’ve really got to try one to see what I mean.
I got mine in a health food store where they had one set up so you can test it out. See if there’s a similar type of place in your area..or if they’ll send one out to you to try out. My recommendation is to buy a big one, and get one with an automatic switch so you don’t have to worry about the settings.
Here’s a link to the big sized pad so you can check it out:

Hope that helps. And hope you’re feeling better soon!
I always liked how pictures from that era had the date on them…(what a cutie!)
Poll question: both
I am glad to read that you feel little better.
The photos are just very cute 🙂
About your question – there are books which I prefer to read first and only after watch a movie. As usual these are classics f.ex. Dostoevsky, Jane Austen, Arthur Conan Doyle, Victor Hugo etc. It is same with some modern writers like Stephen King, William Gibson etc.
Why do I do so? Well, because when i read a book I imagine the characters, their behavior and emotions my way, and when i watch the film i see how the actors, director think.Sometimes there is little difference (sometimes completely different from the original story) and this is a bit difficult to me to accept 😀 😀
Jason Jaan:
I always enjoy your articles! Your writings are so entertaining.
Your pictures are adorable! I love it that you have the sweetest smiles in the pictures. You were a happy baby…
I see the resemblance of you in Sweet, Sweet Emma.
Keep up the good work. Love to all at home.
