Story Time for Daddy

I had just completed my -ahem- daily doody last night when who other than Emma should saunter into the bathroom.  She deftly balanced the two books she was carrying  —  Grover  and the Monster at the End of the Book and Good Egg — upon the arm of my adjacent wheelchair and proceeded to climb atop the seat.  When she had gotten comfortable,  she began to “read” to me.  When she got tired of “reading” she showed me  the pictures.  After that she told me a few stories about her day.  And then she left.

It was the sweetest and most surreal ten minutes a father and daughter have ever spent together.

If I was the man in charge, I would mandate that today be a national holiday. Why you ask? Because today is Opening Day for Major League Baseball. In my perfect world even Fehmeen would rock the old orange and black with an enthusiastic sense of Gigantes pride.

I did say perfect world. Not that that would ever remotely come close to happening.

It is the day when everybody is in first place (except for the Yankees who lost last night).  Every team in both leagues has a shot at going all the way, even the Giants.

So here are my predictions for the 2010 season: The Giants will win 89 games, 15 of them will be owned by Barry Zito. They will win the Wild Card only to be swept by the Brewers in three quick games.

What are your predictions Mariners, Angels, Padres, Yankees, and any other teams’ fans?

In all honesty, I have no idea where this is going to lead me. That goes double for my guest-typist, Leanne. The only thing of which I am certain is, well, nothing. Let me explain.

I saw about an hour and a half of the film What the Bleep Do We Know? and I think it may have changed my life , but I am not sure how.  It could have been a combination of the lasagna dinner I ate last night and the ice cream cake I inhaled after that.  Maybe it was the excessive amount of red Swedish Fish that Mamoo and I consumed after chillin’ with Bubba K for a little while. Irregardless of all that, what I took from what I watched was incredible. Not that I understood ten percent of it.  Let me try to explain.

Basically, the movie is about quantum physics. Now that I have scared most of you off with those two words, I will address those of you who remain. According to the film-makers, we have the power within ourselves to alter and affect our own realities. I don’t know exactly how it’s done–I had a lot going on last evening–but I do intend to watch it again to find out.

If I learned anything from Hot Tub Time Machine–another movie we saw yesterday–it’s that your future reality isn’t  predicated by the mistakes that were made in the past. Considering that I am currently stuck in a broken down body with a brain that has a mind of its own, I seem to be uniquely qualified to give this quantum physics thing a try, you know, just in case what I think that they were saying in the movie about reality was true. What have I got to lose?
